Giants Release Josh Brown

Oct 27, 2016 8:03 AM

The New York Giants have released Josh Brown.

The team said that it was "misguided" in its previous attitude toward Brown, who acknowledged he was physically, verbally and emotionally abusive against his wife Molly Brown.

"We believed we did the right thing at every juncture in our relationship with Josh," team president John Mara said in a statement. "Our beliefs, our judgments and our decisions were misguided. We accept that responsibility.

"We hope that Josh will continue to dedicate himself to rehabilitation and to becoming a better person and father. We will continue to support him in his efforts to continue counseling, and we hope that Josh and his family can find peace and a positive resolution."

Brown had released a statement earlier Tuesday, apologizing and saying he has "taken measures to get help" for his alleged domestic abuse and wants to be a "voice of change, not a statistic."

Patriots Release Jonathan Cooper

Oct 8, 2016 4:34 PM

The New England Patriots will release guard Jonathan Cooper.

Cooper, who was the 7th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, lost his starting job with a foot injury a few day into training camp.

Cooper had been acquired as part of the Patriots' March trade with the Arizona Cardinals in which New England swapped defensive end Chandler Jones for Cooper and a second-round draft choice.

Cooper had been working with the first unit at right guard through spring practices and into the third day of training camp, when a foot injury sidelined him.

Terrelle Pryor Thought Patriots Would Sign Him In 2015

Oct 7, 2016 8:21 AM

Terrelle Pryor, who has emerged as the top playmaker for the Cleveland Browns this season, had a workout with the New England Patriots last season.

The quarterback-turned-receiver will face New England with Tom Brady returning this weekend.

I really thought I was going to be a Patriot," Pryor said. "I know Bill Belichick really liked me. I had a great workout for them and everything went really well. I really thought he was going to sign me."

Pryor called his visit last autumn to New England "phenomenal," but felt that Belichick wasn't ready to take the leap "because he just wasn't sure my hamstring was 100 percent healed."
